I was an Authorized Reseller for Sprint and T-Mobile on the retail side. When the Motorola Razr came out and there was such a tremendous demand for unlocked phones I started to do research on getting unlocked Razr’s so I could sell them on TMO’s network since they initially came out for ATT/Cingular, and I added another facet to my business; unlocked cell phone wholesaler.  October of 2007 I successfully sold the retail side of my business honestly because I didn’t enjoy it anymore (if you’ve ever shopped at a store or a mall kiosk there are some not so let’s face it honest people just trying to pump out as many contracts as they can). I spent a year finishing up my graduate degree, and well my old wholesale customers want me back. CELLULAR WHOLESALE KNOWLEDGE: There are hundreds of them on eBay, you can clearly see that. Here’s how that works; it works mostly in tiers. You have you “A” level wholesalers, “B” level wholesalers and then you have the grey/black market wholesalers. The third is a majority of what you find on eBay and on the web. The level A never sell on eBay as they get direct from manufacturers (Nokia, Motorola, Samsung) you can most definitely order from A and B level but you’d have to order in the 100’s or sometime in the 1000’s. The level B’s buy from the A and then distribute to others. When the product hit’s the grey/black market that’s where the trouble comes in. (Let me say I’m sure there are plenty of wholesalers on eBay that maintain ethics). Let me give you an example; let’s take the razr for example the unlocked version sold with a slightly higher capacity battery, a data cable, headphones, data kit ,and a charger. Because wholesalers work on small margin greed sometime sets in. We’ve all heard of a little country called China. They take the original charger, battery, data cable, and software and replace them with knock offs, no joke! An OEM Motorola battery wholesales between $6 to $8 a knock offs (with logo’s and all) is less than $2, same of the other accessories and then wholesale the OEM’s to accessory sellers as OEM at lower costs than the A and B wholesalers. So they’ve now churned their small volume based profit into a larger not so honest profit (just FYI, most original batteries are under warranty for 12 months direct from the manufacturer).It’s to a point now where they’ll take a broken phone replace it with aftermarket LCD’s after market housing’s and sell it new on eBay, less face it there’s a lot less liability on eBay as opposed to the having a store front. I have been a victim of this many times over I’ve purchased phones from wholesalers that seemed like a great deal and when I got the product the returns would come in such high volumes and the warranties would be useless because they’re grey market, I love my customers and always took the hit. It’s taken me many years and many thousands of dollars in losses to develop relations with “great” B level wholesalers (I’m on a first name basis with most of them now). In the 6 years I have made great key customers and I mostly supply them because I’ve worked extremely hard to build their trust. And I’m sorry to say that some of the “PowerSellers” with 99% feedback and 100’s of negative feedback in my book is not a powerseller.  My goal is NOT to be a PowerSeller, it’s to provide you the good, honest members of eBay with great quality phones at reasonable prices and to bring you great phones that aren’t carried by either T-Mobile or AT&T but are great phones but the marketing department at TMO or ATT decided that there is no market for the phones in the US. I specialize in Nokia and Sony Ericsson and will sell other brands when they are what I like to call safe bargains. I have in-depth technical knowledge on whatever I sell, so ask any specifics you may have. I have access to the phones on official release dates not Vodafone phones that have been fraudulently purchased and shipped to the US (big believer of Karma). I also have relations with close to a 148 resellers of T-Mobile and ATT and they often over order and need to get rid of excess stock of branded phones. Generally only a few pieces will make it on eBay as they go really fast to my existing customer base.  I love the cellular business when it’s done right and I’ll do my best to make sure that all my feedback is good feedback.
